Editorial policy

Every fact on HyrePest cites a named primary source with the date we checked it. We publish no average prices, rankings, reviews or invented people, and no one can pay to change a page. This policy covers what we publish, what we refuse, how we expect to be paid and how we fix mistakes.

Last updated

Who this binds. Every page on HyrePest, written by the HyrePest Research Desk. HyrePest is not a pest control company. It treats, inspects and applies nothing, and no company has paid for anything here.

Where do the facts come from?

From primary sources: federal and state agencies, pesticide information centers, state pest control regulators, university extension services and published research.

Time-sensitive claims carry the date we last checked them. The source is linked on the page, not kept in a file somewhere.

What will we not publish?

  • Fake averages. A national average price presented as if it were your price.
  • Unsupported listings. Company listings, ratings or reviews we cannot support from primary sources.
  • Unproven claims. Testimonials, case studies, statistics, certifications or awards we cannot evidence.
  • Application steps. Instructions for applying a pesticide. The product label is the legal instruction.
  • A diagnosis. No page or tool names your species for certain or clears your house.
  • Pages written to rank. Pages built around a phrase instead of a question someone actually has.

What happens when we do not know?

The page says so. That is why this site has no company directory today. The research behind one is still being built, and an honest empty space is worth more than a full list we cannot defend.

The claims we looked for and could not confirm are listed on the about page.

How do we expect to make money?

HyrePest expects to earn money by connecting homeowners with pest control companies. That is not live yet, as how it works explains. When it is, it will be disclosed wherever it applies, and it will not decide what the guidance says.

Nobody can buy a placement, a ranking or a favorable description on this site. How we vet explains why we never call a company trusted or approved.

How do we correct mistakes?

Tell us using the contact details below. We fix errors in place, change the review date, and note the correction where it changes the substance of what we said.

Questions people ask

Who writes HyrePest?
The HyrePest Research Desk. We publish under the organization instead of inventing named authors, because a byline with no real, accountable person behind it is decoration, not a fact. Claims cite named primary sources with the date we last checked them.
How does HyrePest make money?
We expect to be paid for connecting homeowners with pest control companies. You are never charged. That is not live yet. When it is, it will be disclosed wherever it applies, and nobody can buy a placement, a recommendation or a change to a page.
Does a business relationship affect what you publish?
No. The test is whether the site ever publishes things that cost it business. It does: no average pest control price, no rankings, no reviews we cannot support, and plain notes where our information is incomplete.
Where do your facts come from?
Primary sources: federal and state agencies, pesticide information centers, state pest control regulators and university extension services. Time-sensitive claims carry the date we last checked them, and the source is linked on the page itself.
What will you not publish?
An average price presented as your price. Company listings, ratings or reviews we cannot support. Testimonials, statistics, certifications or awards we cannot evidence. Pesticide application instructions. And pages written to rank for a phrase instead of answering a question.
How do I report an error?
Email hello@hyrepest.com with the page and what you think is wrong. Corrections are welcome and are the fastest way to improve a page. If a figure cannot be supported by the source we cited, we remove it.
